JFK Elementary Identified for Additional State Support: Join Us March 2nd for Public Meeting

Message from the Superintendent flyer

Dear JFK Community:

Each year, the New York State Education Department (NYSED), under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), is required to identify the support model for every K–12 school and district in New York State. The support model determined through the ESSA accountability system is crucial to ensuring every student gets the support they need to succeed, promoting fairness, and preparing students for a bright future.

We are writing to inform you that John F. Kennedy Elementary School has been identified for the Superintendent Receivership support model for the 2025–2026 school year, based on our 2024–2025 school year results. This indicates that our school would benefit from additional support and resources based on our performance in the 2024–2025 school year in areas such as State Assessments, English Language Proficiency and Attendance.

As part of the Superintendent Receivership support model, we will receive funding, resources, and additional support from the state and district to help improve student outcomes. This is an opportunity to enhance student performance and work towards excellence.

Please see this infographic, What You Need to Know About Support Model Identifications, which provides insight into what it means to be identified for additional support.

We are committed to continuous improvement and welcome your questions and feedback as we continue to work toward excellence. We hope you can attend our public meeting on Monday, March 2nd at 5:30PM in the JFK gym to meet with Principal Melissa Jamieson and Superintendent Dr. Paul J. Padalino about this designation. Translation services and childcare for school-aged children will be provided.

Sincerely,

Dr. Paul J. Padalino
Superintendent of Schools

Melissa Jamieson
Principal of John F. Kennedy Elementary School
